Cookie Redding is an artist, designer, and educator blending studio practice with teaching.

I’ve been making art since what feels like forever and have been teaching art and design for over 20 years, where I blend studio practice with the classroom and everything in between.

My work ranges from painting, mixed media, printmaking, collage and illustration to digital design, teaching resources, and writing about the creative process.

Explore & Experiment

There’s a lot going on around here, which is probably a pretty accurate reflection of my actual art life. I make things, teach things, write about things, get weirdly obsessed with a process for a while, and then wander off to try something else.

This is where all of that lives. Studio work, printmaking, ceramics, collage, design, little experiments, things for the shop, things I’m still figuring out, and whatever else has caught my attention lately.

I also teach, and I really love helping artists and students figure out their own creative practices, try new things, work through ideas, and keep making when they’re not quite sure where something is going yet.

So poke around. There’s no especially tidy path through any of it, and I’m pretty sure I prefer it that way.

From play to process.

Studio Notes is my monthly newsletter about what’s happening in the studio, what I’m making, what I’m trying, and whatever I seem to be especially interested in that month.

I’ll usually share some of the process behind the work, things I’ve been figuring out along the way, resources I’ve found useful, and a few things that have been inspiring me lately. Sometimes that might be a book, an artist, a material, a weird little rabbit hole, or something I’ve been thinking about in my own creative practice.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, sign up and I’ll send Studio Notes your way once a month.
