Module 1
Exercise 1: One Element Exploration

Objective
Focus on one element of art (line, shape, form, texture, color, value, or space) and create a composition that explore different ways to use that element.
Instructions
Choose one element (line, shape, form, texture, color, value, or space) and design a basic layout that communicates a mood or message using just that element. This exercise will help you start thinking critically about how these elements work together in creating visual communication. You can work with:
- Analog: Sketching with pens, cutting out shapes from magazines for collage, using paper and markers.
-
Digital: Adobe Express or Canva to manipulate digital shapes, textures, and lines.
-
Photography: Take a series of photos (3-5 images) using only one element as your focus (e.g., capturing shadows for value, or architecture for shape).
